Frequently asked questions

1

What is involved in the School Of Dreams programme?

School of Dreams is a two-day workshop held in your school, delivered by two trained facilitators from the School of Dreams team. In order to maximise the experience for you and your school we carry out a pre-visit and post-visit:

Pre-visit:
Four to six weeks before the delivery of the workshop one of our team will visit your school to share the concepts that underpin the programme with your senior management team and discuss the practical arrangements for the workshop.

Post Visit:
Four to six weeks after the delivery of the programme a member of our team will visit your school to review the effectiveness of the programme and to provide you with any additional support you may need in cascading the content.

2

What is the process for becoming a host school?

To be considered as a host school you need to complete and return a bid form. If your bid is successful we will offer you a date and send you a booking form. You will need to get your head teacher to sign the booking form to ensure that the senior management team are committed to the successful delivery of the programme.

3

By signing up as a host school, what am I committing to?

Host schools commit to:

  • provide a suitable venue for the two-day programme
  • secure the commitment of two/three primary or secondary guest schools to participate
  • provide 36 KS2/KS3 pupils from across the participating schools to attend
  • provide 12 educators from across the participating schools to attend
4

What age group is the programme designed for?

A mix of pupils from Years 6, 7, 8 and 9 is ideal.

5

What is the proposed group size?

The maximum group size is 36 pupils, typically 18 from the host school and six from each of the three guest schools, and 12 educators.

6

Do you want the schools to be mixed together?

We will mix the pupils into groups when they arrive on the day.

7

What do you mean by "educators"?

Educators are anyone that has contact with the pupils in your school. This can include teachers, TAs, NQTs, governors or parents.

8

Do you require the same group of pupils and educators for both days?

Yes please - this is very important. They will be working on team activities that will require continuity.

9

It might be difficult for the same educators to commit to two days. Is this a problem?

Yes. As this is as much an educator's training programme as it is a student’s programme, the effectiveness will be greatly diminished if they only attend one day. In particular, educator's only attending day two will find the experience unsatisfactory.

10

What do the pupils need to bring with them?

The School of Dreams team will provide all materials and equipment.

11

What about timings for the day?

We aim to cause the least possible disruption to the normal working of your school so can adjust the session timings to fit your normal day. Please ensure that visiting pupils and staff are at school at the beginning of your normal working school day and that they will stay until the end of the day. We require minimum five hours pupil contact time each day to ensure that the whole programme can be delivered.

12

What about refreshments, meals etc.?

Most schools leave their normal lunch arrangements in place. Some waive the cost of lunch for guest schools and host school pupils. We ask that you provide meals for our two facilitators and up to two further guests from Honda who may attend the session. We are happy to use the school canteen for this.
